Artist and Printmaker
In my current work I am producing monoprints inspired by land and seascapes. I am constantly trying to capture something of the atmosphere that I feel when I’m walking in the hills of the Peak District or along the beaches of the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales, having spent many happy hours in both places, I find them a constant source of inspiration for my work.
I try to create layers and textures to reflect light, movement and form. I am currently using the process of monoprinting. I apply ink to a plate, then by rolling, scraping, wiping and manipulating it, I create an image. I then put the paper over the plate and pass it through the printing press.
With the process of monoprinting each print is unique and there is an element that I cannot control, which I really like and can reveal wonderful unexpected results, which then I work into to develop the final image.
I am a member of Manchester Print Club and Hot Bed Press printing studio, Salford.
